Fourteen short reads on what the logs actually changed: a dam rehabilitation, a platinum reef mapped from a single hole, a CO₂ reservoir, a lithium brine. Each is written up in full on this site, with the original PDF to download.
Field results
Each study is a real programme where borehole positioning, wireline logging or integrated interpretation informed a decision: a dam rehabilitation designed on measured rock mass, a reef mapped tens of metres from a single hole, a CCUS reservoir and a lithium brine-bearing formation characterised in-situ, packer tests replaced by high-resolution permeability logs.

Kariba Dam rehabilitation
The Kariba Dam plunge pool has experienced erosion from water flow through the spill gates. A detailed geotechnical investigation using advanced imaging technologies was conducted to understand the rock mass characteristics essential to the project's success.
Read the study Hydro-LogCCUSIn-situ porosity & permeability from BMR
Carbon capture, utilisation and storage seeks to reduce the climate impact of CO₂ by capturing and storing it in subsurface reservoirs. BMR characterises those reservoirs directly, in the hole.
Read the study Hydro-LogLithiumBMR for lithium brines
Total porosity, specific yield and specific retention can all be directly measured in-situ using lithology-agnostic borehole magnetic resonance technology.
Read the study Tech-LogPlatinumRadar off-hole imaging of a platinum reef
Borehole radar was used to detect and map the reef and surrounding features, identifying both lateral and vertical changes in the platinum reef away from the hole.
Read the study Tech-LogRock mechanicsIn-situ stress from borehole breakout
Borehole breakout analysis of acoustic televiewer images, combined with multi-hole field stress models, deepens understanding of the inherent oriented stresses within any rock mass.
Read the study Tech-LogUndergroundUnderground deployment in hazardous holes
Digital Surveying's hazardous hole deployment system mitigates the associated risks while ensuring the capture of high resolution, fully oriented images.
Read the study Hydro-LogHydrogeologyHydraulic conductivity from flowmeter logging
Measured hydraulic conductivity from induced flowmeter logging can facilitate better packer siting, fill data gaps or replace packer testing altogether, leading to more reliable, higher certainty models.
Read the study Tech-LogStructureOrienting radar reflectors with televiewer images
Integrating the 2D radargram with oriented images from optical and acoustic televiewers determines the orientation of radar reflectors intersected by the borehole.
Read the study GeohazardFormation evaluationLog-derived local hazard index
Borehole geophysical logging is now integral to detailed formation characterisation. Comparing it with geotechnical stress-strain tests has enabled a robust workflow and local hazard index derivation.
Read the study Tech-Log3D radar3D off-hole imaging from a three-hole fan
Joint 3D interpretation of borehole radar data acquired in an underground three-hole drill fan yields a high certainty interpretation of geological and structural features the drill holes never intersected.
Read the study Tech-LogDiamondsKimberlite slope stability at Venetia diamond mine
Oriented televiewer images from vertical and inclined holes, blast holes included, built the foliation, joint and fault database behind a pit slope optimisation.
Read the study Tech-LogRadar modellingForward modelling borehole radar reflectivity
Predicting the radargram from a simple geological model before drilling guides borehole placement and separates genuine reflectors from overlapping clutter.
Read the study Hydro-LogUranium ISRBorehole magnetic resonance for uranium in-situ recovery
Borehole magnetic resonance confirmed a permeable host aquifer between tight aquitards, showing a sandstone uranium deposit suits in-situ recovery.

When to use total count or spectral gamma in uranium exploration, and why laboratory checks for disequilibrium come before any grade estimate.
